End of Spring.

winter-dragon:

“Gaara.” Hatori repeated the unusual name softly under his breath, glancing up towards the gates when he was just literally a step from crossing over. It still pained him to hear the amount of guilt laced in the boy’s words but he would continue to try his best to assure him that this really was what Hatori wanted.

The dragon even counted himself fortunate that he’d crossed paths with such a mannerly youth. He really couldn’t have asked for more of the situation, even if he knew very little, in fact nothing of the other aside from his name there was something imperious about the young man that somehow made him believe he was doing this for a higher purpose than the preservation of his own life. He seemed too regretful of his actions for him to be acting on purely selfish reasons.

That, or maybe Hatori was just embellishing the moment to comfort himself. He was still only human at the end of the day and the very notion of death was, whether he wanted to admit it or not, a little frightening.

“Well, Gaara…”

“I think, that it was nice meeting you.”

He reassured with the faintest hint of a smile touching upon his features before taking the final hurdle out of the Village onto terrain where nothing was limited anymore. There really was no turning back, that much was certain when the sand bullet materialized before his very eyes.

So, he was going to get shot. At least that was mainstream enough , the doctor hadn’t frankly known what to expect until now. With promises or revival, his icy exterior has dissolved completely and Hatori broke out into a smile that was rarely ever seen on his countenance these days.

“You don’t need to put yourself to that trouble, but if you really would like to carry out a request for me…”

“Back in my hut, I have left two letters, for members of my family. If you would, bring it to them I would be extremely grateful. The older of the two - Ayame owns a clothing boutique in the center of Polis you should easily be able to locate him there.”

If he’d even made it, but it was worth holding on to that last vial of hope.

“That is all I would ask of you.”

Gaara only bowed his head slightly to the comment, though he couldn’t think of why it would be nice to meet him when he was about to take his life. Questioning it was pointless, this man wanted to give his life to another, it was his own choice, and Gaara would grant that to save his own life. That was really all it was about, he wished he could say it was for a better reason. While Gaara was Kazekage and his life was important, it really didn’t matter all that much in this place. As he was smiled at, Gaara did not know it was a rare thing to see… though he could not bring himself to smile back at the man. He was trouble by the actions about to take place, and was already planning  several ways to make it up to the man… by whatever means he could. Nothinghe thought of though compared to the value of his life.

He was even leaving loved ones behind. Light coloured hues glanced down a moment before he gave a firm nod at the request. “I will deliver these letters.” He assured, and then he would find a way to make this act up to those loved ones as well. He knew that they would most likely hate him.

“Thank you for saving my life …I hope to see you again soon, Sohma-sensei.” With that Gaara waited a moment until the man before him closed his eyes. The bullet was then shot, the condensed grains of sand piercing through the heart and exiting the body within millaseconds. Sand erupted from his gourd, as large hands that caught the limp body before he could hit the ground. Dark ringed eyes narrowed as he looked at Hatori Sohma, blood spoiling from the hole in his chest. “…I am truely sorry for this.”

Gaara willed his sand to gently lay the body upon the grass, closing his eyes  the Kazekage gave Hatori a moment of silence in respect for the life he had taken.

Rasing a hand, Gaara wiped a tear from his cheek, holding his hand out to look at the bead of water before clutching that hand into a fist. The collar fell from  his neck soon after, and in a brief moment of anger for the action he was forced  to do Gaara crushed the the thing with sand before throwing it aside bitterly. Sands once againt retreated back into his gourd… giving Hatori a glance he spoke softly, “I will return for you in a moment.” And then he stepped back into the village of Wisdom to retrive the letters he had promised to deliver.

End of Spring.

winter-dragon:

Hatori exhaled a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been keeping in until it was confirmed that his body wasn’t going to undergo too much suffering when the time finally came. Not that he’d suspected otherwise after having spent a few moments in company of the other, and the outcome whether painful or not was essentially the same at the end of the day.

“Thank you.”

It seemed almost perverse to be thanking someone, especially so young to be taking your life, but at the same time Hatori reasoned it can’t have been an easy act to commit for the opposite party either. If anything, he pitied the boy more than himself right now.

Silently falling in step behind him, the dragon was surprised when requested to divulge his name. He failed to perceive how his identity was relevant at this point, though assumed there must have been adequate reasoning behind asking.

“Hatori, Hatori Sohma, and you are?”

The gates were imminently close now, a few more steps and the line separating the enabling of supernatural abilities would be breached. By the request alone it was already evident that that was the reason he’d been lead towards the outskirts of Wisdom.

Thank you? There was a sickening feeling in the pit of his stomach.. hearing a ‘thank you’ from a man he was about to kill. He did not want to be thanked for taking the life of a good man, though he knew the thanks was only because he would give him a quick death… He supposed it was better than letting someone with sadistic tastes ‘play’ with the man before letting him die. To think… once upon a time he had been a monster that killed anyone with absolutely no remorse.

“…my name is Gaara.” The young Kazekage answered, continuing to walk in a leisurely pace. He was in no hurry to kill this man… “Sohma-sensei… under different circumstances, I would say that it is nice to meet you… but considering the situation…. it is unfair.” The boy frowned, stepping out of the gate and exiting the village, Gaara felt his chakra release from the bind that this strange land held on it. Pivoting on his heel, his arms still folder across his chest, Gaara looked up at the doctor as the cork to his gourd broke down into tiny grains of sand. A small amount of it condense down into a tight bullet and hovered in the air. “I would like to tell you though, Sensei, that as soon as this deed is done I will be taking you to Alpha Temple in order to revive you. My wish is that you will not resent me for what I am about to do…” Browless ridges furrowed as his frown deepened slightly, “…If I am unable to revive you… do you have any last wish to request of me, I will do whatever you wish.”

End of Spring.

winter-dragon:

Hatori gave a curt nod of his head to show that he understood. He could safely say without a shred of hesitation that he bared no resentment towards the boy, nor were there any lingering regrets swimming at the back of his mind. He’d always been loyal to his family, never questioning a single order he’d been given by their leader despite the heartache it caused.

By laying his life on the line for another he was betraying them. But if he’d resorted to killing, he’d be betraying himself.

The dragon’s entire existence had been ruled by the hand of another. It was his time to be selfish now.

Time to do what he thought was the best, it’s not as though Hatori didn’t have mistakes of his own to atone for. All those memories he’d erased and those he’d hurt as a result of that process.

Yuki, Kana…and they weren’t the only ones.

“It’s alright, you know….”

Expiring the very last breath of smoke, the remnant of his cigarette was tossed to the ground and crushed under the weight of his foot before Hatori finally turned around to meet his reaper face to face.

“It’s really alright.” He repeated, enforcing emphasis that there was no need for the youth to try and explain himself or give him a reason for what was about to transpire. The doctor just wanted one thing from the other, and one thing only.

“Just, make sure you live.”

It was alright? With those word’s the Kazekage gained a high amount of respect for the stranger. Apparently they stayed in the same village yet this had been their first time crossing paths. He would have liked to learn a bit more, perhaps in different circumstances he would have made his first friend here in Arcadios. The other may have stated that the act he was about to take was alright, but that didn’t stop Gaara from feeling regret for it. A good man like this did not deserve to die, noble men like this… if anything, the world needed him to stick around.

Expelling a sigh, Gaara gave a nod of his head before turning away from the man, looking outward along the path that would lead outside the village. “I know you want this done quickly… and I will make it as painless as possible, but I’m afraid you’ll have to walk with me a little way in order to exit the village. Only then I can promise you a quick and painless death…” With that he began walking, glancing back at the stranger.

“I would like to know the name of the man, who’s life I am to take.”

End of Spring.

winter-dragon:

Hatori hadn’t expected to hear such a youthful sounding voice speaking back. So, his life was now in the hands of a child was it? A sinister prospect to dwell on though there was a small comfort in knowing he’d be saving someone with a good number of years left in front of them.

“I’m a doctor, we’re supposed to save lives.” He’d evaded the inquisition, responding only with a simple explanation he deemed sufficed in clarifying his current act of martyrdom. He had things to live for, people mostly but he didn’t want to talk about it. The dragon had no desire to participate in casual conversation before his death, he just wanted it over and done with.

Fortunately it didn’t sound as though the company behind him was any sort of sadist if the calm, composed tone of voice was anything to judge by. There was still hope for a relatively peaceful passing.

“What about you?”

The sand ninja got the hint that this man didn’t wish to speak on that subject. It had been thoughtless of him to ask… a noble doctor was here to save a life, by sacrificing his own. More likely than not he would have loved ones, it would be cruel to ask questions about those loved ones when the person was ready to die.

“That’s a valiant act, Sensei. While I would rather save lives than take, I’m afraid I cannot afford for let myself perish here.” Though he realized that there was suppose to be a place here where the dead could be revived, death was something he did not wish to experience again. “I did wish to take the life of one pledge and reeking of malice butpeoplenogivemepermission …but it appears that I have bad luck today.” To run into a good man and have to kill him… he didn’t like it, but this was his only chance at surviving this barbaric ‘game’.

End of Spring.

winter-dragon:

Hatori concluded that with his death now proclaimed imminent by the collar clenched around the base of his throat, a life may as well be saved in the process, because he wasn’t willing to take one himself. The idea of requesting either Yuki or Ayame to deal the last blow had been contemplated, but he knew the both of them would foolishly refuse. His sacrifice would have been considerably less of a chore had it been in the name of someone he actually cared for.

Not wanting the last fragments of memories they had of each other to be negative ones shrouded in fear and panic, the doctor had opted to avoid seeing his kin one last time altogether. It was better this way. Should they both make it unscathed through this sinister plight, each would find an envelope addressed to them in the far corner of his hut placed neatly on a rickety wooden desk sealed with parting words.

With the full acceptance of the grim fate that awaited him outside, Hatori had calmly stepped out of his hut presuming that by now that the blood bath had already commenced. In these dire situations, most people lost control of their sense and struck the closest available victim, who could blame them?

Sparking up was would probably end up being his very last cigarette, a long, deep inhaling of the calming fumes was taken before he’d abandoned the gates of his village for less secure grounds. Not that Hatori was in any hurry to die, but why drag out the inevitable at this point? It wasn’t log until the faint thudding of footsteps could be heard not too far behind him, prompting the male to stop and retrieved the alabaster cylinder from his mouth an exhaling the thin trail of grey smother from his lips.

“If you’re going to do it, just do it.”

The Kazekage couldn’t afford to die, again. Gaara felt as though the one he killed should deserve it though… but when you’re actually looking for someone to kill, somehow those with malice were harder to find. Venturing back into the village of Wisdom, the redhead had happened by when hearing an impatient stranger. Dark ringed eyes landed on a man smoking a cigarette… his last one? He didn’t look like any fighter, and the Kazekage couldn’t feel any malice from him.. yet he seemed to be waiting to die. Curious, the shinobi approached the other.

“You’re asking for death? Sacrificing your life to a stranger?” he questioned, stopping to look up at the other. “You don’t have anything that you wish to fight to live for?”
